GTA appoints Chris Muir executive officer

The Gaming Technologies Association (GTA), a trade body in Australasia for casino gaming equipment makers, announced on Tuesday the appointment of Chris Muir (pictured) as executive officer.

Mr Muir “is qualified in economics and law and has extensive leadership experience in both the public and private sectors,” said the association in a press release.

GTA said the appointment followed “an extensive search” conducted by employment search and recruiting services firm Boyden Australia.

“The industry we supply is highly compliant and increasingly complex,” said Adrian Halpenny, GTA’s chair, in a prepared statement and referring to regulatory requirements relating to licensing and other technical and legal matters.

“Chris will bring the additional expertise and knowledge required for GTA to further elevate its position as a voice of reason and a trusted adviser to all stakeholders,” added Mr Halpenny.

GTA primary members include: Ainsworth Game Technology Ltd; Aristocrat Technologies Australia Pty Ltd; Aruze Gaming Australia Pty Ltd; IGT (Australia) Pty Ltd; Interblock Asia Pacific Pty Ltd; Konami Australia Pty Ltd; Scientific Games Corp and Tabcorp Holdings Ltd.

The trade body is also the organiser of the Australasian Gaming Expo (AGE). This year’s trade show – scheduled to take place from August 14 to 16 – will occupy a total of 19,000 square metres of exhibition space.
